Margot Robbie says that today she doesn’t take nudity too seriously. When she acted on Wall Street she was young and not exposed much. But now she is ready to do nudity scenes if the script really demands it. Like in the case of Wall Street it was necessary to show love scenes being filmed over loads of cash.
When the nudity is warranted, I totally agree with it and don’t think there’s anything shameful in that. If it’s justified and the character would do it, then it should be there. You get desensitised so fast. It felt like a lifetime and also like a distant hazy memory
Robbie felt quite uneasy and nervous. Hence she had to take the help of some shots before she could prepare herself for the intimate scene. All the scenes were real and no CGI was used.
I’m not going to lie, I had a couple of shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous… very, very nervous. They have things called merkins, which is like a wig that’s for genitalia. I remember for Wolf of Wall Street, there was an entire merkin room.I guess people would go in and pick one out.
Did Margot Robbie’s family object to her nude scenes in The Wolf Of The Wall Street. Well, there was some friction that did develop. Margot Robbie lied for a good amount of time. She mentions
“Yeah, that was a small point of contention with my family, I just flat-out lied to my family for a really long time. I said, ‘I don’t care what you hear, there is no nudity, I’m not doing any nudity. Ignore anything anyone’s saying, there is no nudity.
Margot Robbie Lied to Her Family
It was not easy for Margot Robbie to face her family after doing nude scenes. Margot’s family has no relation with the entertainment industry so she knew that they might object to her nude scene. Robbie’s mom did go to watch the flick but her grandparents refused.
For a long time, she didn’t reveal anything to her family but as the release date grew closer she knew that it was time to unravel the big truth.
“My family don’t have anything to do with the entertainment industry so they totally bought it. They were like, ‘They can do that?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, technology these days, you wouldn’t believe what they do in Hollywood’.”
Margot accepts that the days prior to the shoot were stressful. The time leading up to the date shoot is definitely stressful but at the end of the day, it’s her job. The only thing is to focus on finishing the task as quickly as possible.
Everyone is really great about it and approaches it very professionally, making it as easy and comfortable as they can. It’s not new to anyone on a film set, so for me, it was intimidating but for everyone else, it was just another day at the office.
