Medication can lead to cancer
A significant pharmaceutical company is reportedly recalling the medication to overcome blood pressure over the concerns that the medicinal tablets may be containing the trace amounts of a compound or an element that has the probability of causing cancer.
Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc. has voluntarily called off around 80 lots of valsartan after it detected an impurity in its medicine. The impurity is called N-nitrosodiethylamine, NDEA, a substance which occurs on a natural basis.
There is a possibility that the substance is a possible human carcinogen, as per the recall notice which has been posted by the Food and Drug Administration. The reason for recalling the medicine also includes Amlodipine Valsartan Tablets USP, Valsartan Tablets USP, Valsartan HCTZ Tablets USP.
Where is Valsartan used?
Valsartan is generally used in treating heart failure, blood pressure as well as to reduce the risk of death after going through a heart attack. The latest move made by Aurobindo Pharma USA in a strand of same valsartan recalls came into being in the previous year.
On 31st of December, Aurobindo Pharma USA did not receive any kind of reports related to the adverse reactions which are associated with the recent recall based on a recent commentary.
The announcement came into being on the New Year’s Eve, and the company allegedly said that they had not received any of the reports related to the adverse effects of the drugs during that time.
FDA has released the statement
The FDA has advised the patients who have been prescribed by their doctors for continuing the consumption of the medicine should know that their medication has been recalled and they have to immediately contact their pharmacist and even their doctors to find an alternative to the medication.
The patients must not stop using these tablets till they get a suitable substitute.
If a person immediately stops taking the medication without finding out a suitable alternative, he/she might come across a life and death scenario.
