Who is Alice Kim?
Alice Yung Kim was born and raised in Los Angeles, California on December 27, 1983. She is 20 years younger than Nicolas Cage.
Kim and Cage first crossed paths in 2004 when she was a 19-year-old waitress at Kabuki restaurant in LA. They tied the knot quickly so that she could accompany him to South Africa while he was filming Lord of War.
Cage was aware that the significant difference in their ages would attract attention, but his main focus was to gain the approval of Alice Kim’s family.
While speaking with The Guardian, Cage said,
“When my mother-in-law came to the house for the first time, before even hello or nice to meet you, all I got was, ‘She too young!’ And so I knew this was going to be an uphill battle.”
Family & Career
In 2005, Alice Kim and her partner welcomed their singular child, a son named Kal-el Coppola Cage. It seems that Kal-el has inherited his father’s passion for comics.
In 2018, he lent his voice to the character of Young Bruce Wayne in the animated movie Teen Titans Go!: To the Movies. Cage is also the father of an older son, Weston, from a past romance with actress Christina Fulton.
In 2007, Alice Kim ventured into the world of acting and starred in three movies: Next, Werewolf Women of the S.S., and Grindhouse. However, she seemed to enjoy a private life away from the spotlight.
Together with Cage, they raised their son in a secure, gated community in Las Vegas. After 12 years together, Cage announced their separation in 2016, marking his longest relationship by far.
Divorce
In 2016, Nicolas Cage initiated divorce proceedings against his third wife, Alice Kim, due to her infidelity. Kim had been involved in a romantic affair with another man and was spotted with him in Nevada, openly displaying their relationship.
After confronting her about the situation, Cage’s wife confessed to the ongoing extramarital involvement, which had been going on for a considerable period of time.
Cage has been married to five women, however, his relationship with Kim notably lasted much longer than the others.
Between 1995 and 2001, he was wedded to Patricia Arquette. After one year, Alice Kim’s ex-husband tied the knot with Lisa Marie Presley in Hawaii, coinciding with the week of Elvis Presley’s 25th death anniversary. However, only 107 days later, Cage filed for divorce.
In 2019, Cage entered into his most unusual marriage yet, which occurred after his divorce from Kim. After keeping their relationship a secret for nearly a year, he married makeup artist Erika Koike and then filed for an annulment just four days later.
Nicolas Cage tied the knot with Riko Shibata on February 16, 2021, in Las Vegas, marking his fifth marriage. Shibata, who is 30 years his junior and only four years older than Cage’s eldest son Weston, was confirmed to be the source of the actor’s happiness in a statement. The couple’s first child, a daughter named August, was born in 2022.
