Early Life & Education
Meghan Marguerite McCain was born on October 23, 1984, in Phoenix, Arizona to parents John and Cindy. She was raised alongside her younger siblings John IV, James, and Bridget, who was welcomed into the family after Cindy’s visit to a Bangladeshi orphanage.
Before enrolling at Columbia College of Columbia University, Meghan attended Phoenix Country Day School and Xavier College Preparatory. In 2007, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in art history and completed internships at “Saturday Night Live” and “Newsweek.”

Meghan McCain kicked off her blog, “McCain Blogette,” in 2007 to chronicle John’s run for the presidency, while also delving into topics like pop culture and fashion.
One year later, she published “My Dad, John McCain,” a popular children’s book that showcased her father’s military background and his run for the presidency. A portion of the profits from the book were donated to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, making it a huge success.
In early 2009, Meghan McCain started writing for “The Daily Beast” and the next year, she published her political autobiography “Dirty Sexy Politics.” During this period, she also started making guest appearances as a co-host on “The View.”
Back in 2011, McCain and Michael Ian Black embarked on a month-long journey across the United States in an RV which inspired their book “America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom.” During this time, McCain also started appearing as a commentator on MSNBC.
In 2013, she took on her own talk show called “Raising McCain” on the Pivot channel. The show aired from September 2013 to January 2014, after which McCain joined Pivot’s “TakePart Live” in May.

On November 21, 2017, Meghan McCain and writer Ben Domenech tied the knot at her family’s Sedona ranch. Their daughter, Liberty, was born on September 28, 2020.
In July 2019, McCain opened up about her past miscarriage in a heartfelt article titled “What I Took Away From My Miscarriage” published in the “New York Times.”
Meghan had a strong bond with her father, but unfortunately, Senator McCain lost his battle with brain cancer in 2018. During her eulogy, McCain referred to her father’s death as the “passing of American greatness.”
