Guess who is the most admired woman of America? It’s none other than Michelle Obama, reported the Gallup poll. For the first time, Hillary Clinton has been ousted from the top spot in seventeen years.
The Gallup polls have been asking the participants of the survey since 1946 to name anyone living anywhere in the world to name the one who is the most admired by them. This year, Michelle Obama got 15% of the votes.
Michelle Obama, the former first lady, release her memoir “Becoming” recently and also completed the multi-city book tour. Her husband Barack Obama also got the title of the most admired man with 19% of the votes. He has been winning this title for eleven consecutive years now. There will be a tie between him and Dwight Eisenhower, former President who has held the record for the highest number of years.
This year has marked the thirteenth time that the first place of the poll is not held by an incumbent president with Barack Obama at the top spot.
President Trump got 13% votes and holds the second position. If President Trump fails to win the title of the most admired man, then he would also join Gerald Ford, who is the only President not to be named as the most admired man while in office.
Around thirty five percent of Democrats chose Barack Obama and thirty two percent of Republicans chose Trump. There were high chances that Republicans would name Obama with 7%, while only 1% of Democrats would chose Trump.
1,025 adults were randomly selected by Gallup for the survey from 3-12 December. Hillary Clinton has been at the top consecutively for several years, but this time she was placed at the third position with Oprah Winfrey at the second place.
