Microsoft adds its patent portfolio to the OIN. It joins open invention network in a ‘Nice Validation’ of open source movement. On 10th October, the tech giant of Microsoft made an announcement that the company will participate by joining the Open in Invention Network.
Microsoft is offering its entire patent portfolio at all to the member of the open source patent consortium. Keith Bergelt, the CEO of the company said that it’s a decision to join and reflect the changing views on the patent practice.
He also stated that Microsoft covers everything which is related to the older and newer open source technologies along with their successor and predecessor versions. The old technologies include companies like Open Stack, the Linux kernel, and Android; and the newer technologies are Hyper Ledger and LF Energy. The company is agreed to give no fee and full access license to all the OIN member of the patent portfolio.
