NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Mike Hill, a 61-year-old custodian who died in the tragic Nashville school shooting, is being honored as a hero who gave 13 years of his life to his job there. After shooting and killing six individuals, including three children under nine, Audrey Hale, 28, was shot and killed by the MNPD on March 27.
Hale broke into the private Covenant School brandishing two assault-style rifles and a pistol during the terrifying encounter.
Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, who were all 9 years old lose their lives, as well as Katherine Koonce, 60, Cynthia Peak, 61, and Mike Hill, 61. Nevertheless, just 14 minutes after the school initially called the police to report an active shooter, Hale—who was born a woman and used the pronouns he/him—was fatally shot by officers.
Mike Hill: Who is he?
One of the six victims who perished in the brutal shooting was Hill. Hill was hired 13 years ago by a pastor at Hartsville First United Methodist Church in Tennessee, according to the pastor. “I held off mentioning a name until it had been formally revealed. I’m not really sure what to say right now,” remarked Tim Dunavant, a preacher, on Facebook. Mike Hill is shown in this photo. When I was in charge of the kitchen at the Covenant church and school, he was the last person I employed.
Dunavant mentioned the tragedy while claiming that he employed Hill “more than 13 years ago.” He was still employed there when he was fatally shot, according to People. The pastor continued, describing Hill as a good man who undoubtedly displayed heroic behavior in his final moments. “I’m not yet aware of the specifics. However, when everything is said and done, I believe Mike’s sacrifice saved lives. I have no supporting evidence for that. I just know the type of man he was. He is the type of person who would do that, and I know that.
“Bye bye, Mike!”
Dunavant ended by giving Hill one more piece of advice. “Goodbye Mike, I’ll miss those spontaneously encouraging texts from you.” Hale attended The Covenant School in the past. Although the 28-year-old’s motivation is still unknown, authorities discovered a manifesto that may provide some insight into the cause of the cold killings. Hale has no history of mental health issues or arrests for crimes. According to Don Aaron, a spokesman for the Nashville Police Department, the shooter entered the school via a side entry before starting to fire. After hearing the shooting break out, two police officers confronted the shooter on the second floor of the building, where they fatally shot Hale.
