John Wetteland who is the Former Major League Baseball pitcher has been arrested on Wednesday. As per the records, John Wetteland was later freed on a bond of $25,000.
Wetteland who is 52 has been charged with the sexual abuse of a child. The victim is under the age of 14 and the incident took place in Texas.
Chief’s statement in Wetteland’s case
According to the Associated Press, the Chief of Texas and Bartonville Police, Bobby Dowell told it that the Department of Family and Protective Services of Texas last week has contacted the office of Wetteland.
The charges against Wetteland has been after an investigation that was done regarding the matter.
The report by the Associated Press further stated that Bobby Dowell further stated that he cannot reveal further details on the matter because of the nature of the offense as well as the stage of the investigation.
Marissa Gonzales who is the spokesperson of DFPS stated that the details of the cases of the agencies are always confidential.
Accusations against John Wetteland
John Wetteland is accused that in 2004 he made a child perform a sex act on himself. This was when the child was 4 years old.
The news is according to the consolidated complaint as well as the probable cause affidavit.
The alleged victim of accusation of John Wetteland stated that this happened two times more with a two year period.
In the majors that took place from 1989 to 2000, John Wetteland has pitched for four teams. Wetteland secured the title of being All-Star three times and has also logged 330 career saves.
John was also a part of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame. In 1996, Wetteland has won World Series MVP honors along with the Yankees.
Ahead of the 2006 season, John Wetteland was also hired as the bullpen coach for the Nationals. However, he was fired by Frank Robinson who was the manager back then, in the month of June.
