All parents have their own way of punishing and teaching their kids consequences. Some parents take strict action while some parents choose long conversations to make them understand. They have different way of disciplining their child.
Many times when we were kids, we got some harsh punishments.
Seeing other parents’ discipline techniques can give us some inspiration, though.
One mom is now receiving a ton of praise after her “punishment” was shared on social media.
Wooden said she wanted to “applaud” the mom.
“To the woman in the Hobby Lobby bathroom. If my hands weren’t full of children I would have applauded you [as] your son gave you the back talk of the century,” Wooden said.
The mom had her son doing push-ups on the bathroom floor as punishment.
“You stayed calm and collected while adding 10 more push-ups to his already growing number.
We need more parents like you, who aren’t afraid to parent their own children because of what someone else might think,” she continued.
Her son didn’t love it.
“He said ‘Mama, this is the bathroom floor, grossssss.’
She said ‘Maybe you shouldn’t have been acting obnoxious. (They have soap for a reason.) 10 more,” Wooden reported the mom saying to her son.
People online loved this mom’s technique.
Many said that the boy may hate his mom now, but he will, “Grow up to be a good man and he will thank you for the way you raised him.”
Other moms said they also do exercise as “punishment.”
One mom said “hard labor” can also be self-improvement and can help her kids become “the strongest” and the “most helpful.”
Many parents online said that punishments like this help kids grow up with values.
A number of parents in the comments said tough love and strong discipline help teach children about respect.
However, there were some people who thought this punishment was too harsh.
A number of people spoke out in the comments disagreeing with the mom’s approach. Even though there was some disagreement, people said it all comes down to what works with each individual child.
A big area of concern was how the punishment was carried out in the bathroom.
For many people, they couldn’t get past the fact that this boy was doing push-ups on the floor of a public bathroom, which they said was not sanitary.
Despite some backlash, overall most people seemed to be on board with this parenting style.
A number of parents said push-ups are a good punishment for children because they are hard but don’t “tear” children down.
Others even said that Wooden was an inspiration, too.
People online loved that Wooden was praising the mom, and not judging her, and instead showcasing that, “Moms should stick together.”
