Death Note Voice Actor Dreams of a Singing Light Yagami
The Huntington Comic and Toy Con 2023 was held this year at the Mountain Health Arena in Huntington, WV. It’s a full-scale comic convention where our favorite characters’ voice artists participate and interact with the fans. Here is a portion of the Q&A with Death Note voice actors Brian Drummond and Brad Swaile.
When asked about upcoming projects, Brian did not reveal the most recent ones he is presently working on because he is not permitted to, although he did talk about the most recent ones that are already streaming, such as Eggman Sonic Prime, a few Lego Ninjago series, and Dragon Quest Adventures Of Dai. He also remarked how much he enjoyed dubbing the Dragon Quest Adventures Of Dai with the same cast as Dragon Ball Z.
There is one of the Dragon Quest Adventures Of Dai, 100 episodes of that we’ve wrapped up about not that long ago, in the lead. Some of that, if not all of it might be available on Crunchyroll right now. Believe me, it’s a fantastic series, a lot of the same artists from Dragon Ball Z.
While Brad stated his current work is Gigantosauras, where he plays a “talking dinosaur” on Disney. Additionally, he disclosed that he is voicing a few video games about which he is not permitted to speak in public.
For all you preschoolers preschoolers, there is a show called gigantosaurus which is on Disney, where I play talking dinosaurs. That’s a lot of fun! There’s another series I worked out, kind of recently, and another preschool age show that I’m not allowed to talk to, and uh I think a week and a half ago I recorded a video game that I’m not allowed to talk about.
When Brian, who voiced Ryuk, was asked about his favorite part of Death Note, he mentioned that he liked meeting fans who talk about the series and how much it means to them.
My favorite part of the Death Note series would actually be this. Uhh.. meeting people that talk about the show, and what it meant to them and being introduced. That has been way more fun than it ever was actually working on the show.
One of the fans from the audience questioned both the voice actors of Death Note if they read the manga. Brad admitted he hadn’t, while Brian revealed he had every volume but hadn’t finished reading them all. The fan further asked Brad Swaile about his thoughts on the Death Note Series ending. Swaile expressed his wish for Light to go on vacation or join a boyband.
There is you know speculation that uh light becomes a Shinigami and I’m still waiting to see Shinigami World Series. I love that yeah, it’s like American Idol but for sure you got me. I would pay to see that so one of you has to create a pitch to the studio, there is additional musical you know this right.
