Margot Robbie has said time and time again that she’s a massive Potterhead. Her obsession with the fantasy drama even got her in trouble with her optometrist when she was a kid.
Margot Robbie lies to her optometrist because of Harry Potter
During a guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Robbie revealed that she once lied to her optometrist thanks to her being a massive Potterhead. She told the host,
“When it comes to Harry Potter, I’m a massive, massive nerd.”
Norton then proceeded to show an awkward childhood image of the Barbie star onscreen much to everyone’s delight.
In the picture, Robbie who was around 12 or 13 years old at the time, can be seen smiling at the camera in a black turtleneck and round glasses. She holds a mug in one hand while her other hand holds a hardback Harry Potter book.
The 60-year-old host quipped, noting that the actress was holding a hardback of the popular series. He said,
“This is Margot Robbie, look how uncool. You’re real fancy.”
Robbie laughed and said,
“Do you know what’s particularly pathetic about this picture? A couple things really.”
Norton laughed and said,
“I’ll let you point them out.”
Robbie explained,
“Number one, it’s my birthday. That’s how I chose to spend my birthday. Number two, I’m drinking tea. Number three, I’m wearing glasses, even though I don’t need glasses. I lied to the optometrist because I wanted to have glasses like Harry Potter.”

Robbie, who is married to British film producer Tom Ackerley, talked about her husband who was one of the extras in the film series.
Margot is married to the 32-year-old film producer who she met on the set of the war drama Suite Francaise back in 2013, where he worked behind the camera as an assistant director.
It wasn’t long before the two began dating, eventually tying the knot in 2016.
The couple, who are notoriously private about their relationship, co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment together, and have produced award-winning films like I, Tonya and Promising Young Woman.
In a 2021 interview, Margot went on to reveal that her husband had actually appeared in some of the Harry Potter films – a fact he didn’t reveal to her until after they were married.
Turns out, while Robbie was an obsessed Harry Potter fan, her would-be husband was actually working on set alongside the likes of Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton.
Robbie revealed to Norton,
“My husband is in the Harry Potter movies. “I know, I was like, ‘Had you told me sooner we would’ve been married very quickly’.”
She continued:
“But he was an extra when he was a little kid – he was one of the Slytherin extras when Draco pushes some kids out of the way to see Buckbeak in the third book. He pushes my husband out of the way.”
Tom didn’t just make a cameo in The Prisoner of Azkaban; he also played a Hogwarts student in both The Philosopher’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets.
