It has been years since the Naruto series ended, and fans are still clinging to its memories. Over its run, the Naruto series has drawn a wide range of criticism, both positive and negative! Even after so many years, few of these fans have gone beyond and above to send hate messages to the author of the Naruto Novels! What made them so angry? Here is what you need to know!
Naruto Novel Author Receives Several Hate Messages On Her Twitter Account
The Naruto Novels such as the Sasuke Retsuden, Naruto Retsuden, Kakashi Retsuden, and Sasuke Shinden are all written by Jun Esaka. The Naruto and Boruto Light Novels are a collection of short stories written by multiple writers, and the primary illustrations for both series were done by Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto.
Esaka recently turned to Twitter to expose the haters who kept sending her abusive messages since December 2022. Their main object about the author was that she favored the characters, particularly Sakura, and downplayed Hinata.
The author faced such charges because she expressed her excitement and affection for the character Sakura Haruno, who chose to follow her career as a Shinobi. This infuriated admirers of Hinata Hyuga, who was portrayed to have retired as a Shinobi and settled down as a housewife. The author of the Naruto Novels stated that she is pleased with both the arcs these characters experienced and that there is nothing wrong with deciding to be a housewife. However, the hate remarks for her did not cease, and this is still going on to this day.
I know people have the right to express their honest opinion. And as the writer of novelization, I have a responsibility to listen to negative opinions as well as positive ones.
However, recently, some people have gone too far.— 江坂純 / Jun Esaka (@Jun_Esaka) November 5, 2023
The author pointed out that she was well aware of the criticism she would receive for her works, which is to be expected, especially in the field of creativity. However, she has received “hundreds” of hate comments about her writings in the last year, and some of these fans believe these Naruto Novels, written by her, should be canceled. She tweeted these complaints on Twitter in English, clearly implying that the hatred she has been experiencing is from her international fans, while she asked them to ignore her work if they didn’t like it.
Keep Hinata’s name out of your mouth
Stop acting like you’re Kishi or smth you are still just a side writer hired by a company for a non canon novel, idk how much of a Sakura stan you are but stop the ugly obsession with hinata and be more professional— 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 (@yanllliz) December 8, 2022
Final Thoughts
The Naruto series is quite close to the heart, and probably several anime fans have started their anime journey with this series. It’s been years since the series officially wrapped up with its course, and the Naruto Novels, later released, were a collection of short stories that acted as a spin-off to give the fans a glimpse of what was up with their favorite characters. It’s no new news that the anime fandom can be severely toxic at times, and they do not know the boundaries and end up hurting the feelings of unknown people on the internet. Nevertheless, a little respect for those working tirelessly to keep us entertained is never harmful.
