The Houston Rockets have been trying to fix themselves since James Harden left. They have been linked to a lot of stars this year too. They traded off a few players and increased their chances of getting a great player in the NBA lottery.
Things changed this season, and they landed Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks. They used the space they had in their salary cap the way they wanted. Have they built enough? Probably, but they can do a bit more. Here are 3 trades we think that the Rockets can do to build their roster.
Pacers’ Myles Turner to the Houston Rockets
The Rockets can offer Kevin Porter, Jae’Sean Tate, and their first-round pick from the years 2024 and 2026 in exchange for Myles Turner. The Rockets wanted to land Brook Lopez, but he changed his mind and decided to stay with the Bucks. Turner can do what they need, they need a defensive anchor, somebody who can do the work of floor spacing and can shoot well. Will the Rockets sign Turner or will they go for Kevin Porter?

Jazz’s Kelly Olynyk to the Houston Rockets
The Rockets can trade off Jeff Green, Jae’Sean Tate, two 2024 second-round picks, and one 2025 second-round pick in exchange for Kelly Olynyk. The Rockets might turn to the easy way and sign Olynyk rather than Turner because both of them fit their criteria. Olynyk has played half season with the Rockets and even though that team was built differently, he might be prioritized over other options. The Jazz would have no problem in doing this deal as they have got a lot of players of a similar profile.

Sixers’ Mo Bamba to the Houston Rockets
The Rockets can send Jae’Sean Tate and 2 of their next year’s second-round picks in exchange for Furkan Korkmaz and Mo Bomba. This has very less chance of happening because the Rockets would like to improve their roster rather than experimenting. Mo Bamba has not shown promising performance. Having said that, he would be a good addition to the squad. Korkmaz would be pleased to be with his native countrymate Alperen Sengun.
It is all about the Houston Rockets’ decisions. Do they want to sign another star to strengthen their title hopes or go the other way around and wait to see how their changes work? We’ll keep you updated.
