NBA Free Agency Timings
For the previous few years, free agency starts at the midnight of the 1st July, in the EST time. The biding and deals start at late at night and run till the next morning. But the format has been changed for the present year, and 2019 free agency have a different schedule. It will start on June 30, at 6 pm in the EST time.
The important thing here is although the free agency will start early, none of the deals will be considered official until July 6. It means that no matter which team or player announces anything, everything will be a rumor before Saturday’s happenings.
Top Players and Teams
The top players everyone will look out in the free agency will be Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler, Klay Thompson, etc. Once they are traded it will shape the rest of the deals in the free agency. Most of the teams would try to deal in pairs as a good duo is very important in the NBA.
As of right now, the New York Knicks have the most money to spend, with around $70 million to make deals. The Knicks have already RJ Barrett in the first round pickup, and now they will trade more star players. Given how things are going on, 2019 free agency could be the most exciting event in the history of the NBA.
