The trade rumors around the Los Angeles Lakers power forward Anthony Davis are swirling on the internet after an NBA Insider talks about a potential trade for the 2023-24 NBA Season.
Anthony Davis Struggles to Find His Rhythm Amidst Trade Rumors
Anthony Davis is averaging around 22 points, 3.3 assists, and 11.7 rebounds in the current season. The power forward has shot around 54% of the shots from the field and 30% of the shots from the three-point line.
While the Lakers’ power forward is averaging a decent number of points, assists, and rebounds, he has been inconsistent in terms of accuracy, which has led to trade speculations.

While Davis is struggling with his offensive skills, he is clearly a great defender on the Lakers’ roster. He is currently leading the league in total blocks, as he is averaging around 3 blocks per game. The Lakers are 8-6 in the Western Conference Finals.
Anthony Davis Shines Against Rockets: Could the Lakers Hold Him Back?
Even though there are trade rumors around Anthony Davis, an NBA analyst, Rachel Nichols of Fox Sports Undisputed, believes that the Lakers should retain Davis no matter how he is performing now.
Nichols said:
“I would absolutely, positively, not trade AD”
“The reason is I know who Anthony Davis is. People who are looking for him to be one of the greats of all time … he is not that guy. He is great, he is an NBA champion, he is a terrific player … but he is not one of THE greats. He is one of the best No. 2’s out there. People who are expecting him to be someone he’s not are the ones who are disappointed.”
She said Nichols is one of the most talented players in the league, and the Lakers should hold him while he is performing inconsistently. This is because he is not a primary offensive wing of the Lakers, but LeBron James is.
Experts believe that Davis could return to his form as he did in the 2020 playoffs, which led the Lakers to win the title. However, some believe that Davis has peaked and he won’t be able to get back into the form he did in the 2020 NBA Season.
Nichols added:
“The Lakers are not a superteam.”
“They are a team with one of the best to ever do it and a guy who is an excellent compliment to him. If you try to go out and trade him at the deadline, you are not getting back someone who is more than just an excellent complement to LeBron James. You’re not getting Giannis. You’re not getting Jokic. You’re not getting one of THE greats.”
Anthony Davis has performed well against the Houston Rockets, scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. He looked efficient on the field after Nichols commented on him.
