This NBA offseason had a lot of major trades. But one team that has not made any bold moves yet is the Miami Heat. Last year, the Heat went into the Finals with the help of 3-pointers. But could they perform similarly this season?
Experts suggest that they need to acquire a guard to improve their defense. Could adding CJ McCollum from the New Orleans Pelicans improve their roster?
Miami Heat to Land CJ McCollum – The Trade Proposal
- The New Orleans Pelicans will receive the guard Kyle Lowry, the guard/forward Duncan Robinson, and a 2027 First-Round Draft Pick (Protected with Lottery – Miami Heat).
- The Miami Heat will receive the guard CJ McCollum and the center Jonas Valanciunas.
The Heat didn’t acquire Damian Lillard this offseason. The Lillard trade was one of the most anticipated trade deals of the year. Could they now trade for McCollum, who was once Lillard’s teammate?

Could the Heat Acquire CJ McCollum from the Pelicans?
Currently, the Miami Heat is looking for a guard who can create space on the floor alongside some offensive skills. So, adding CJ McCollum makes sense to them.
In this deal, the Heat will trade off Kyle Lowry, who is on an expiring contract. In exchange, Miami will receive Jonas Valanciunas, who would help them in the front court.
With this deal, the Miami Heat could become the serious title contenders for the upcoming NBA Season. But could the Pelicans move CJ?
Why Do the New Orleans Pelicans Want to Trade CJ McCollum to the Miami Heat?
The Pelicans are hunting for a big man who could future improve their defense system. Jonas Valanciunas is the big man that they currently have, but he is not good when it comes to defense.
In this deal, the Pelicans are not getting any big man who can improve their defense, but they will receive a protected lottery pick in exchange. They will also receive Kyle Lowry and Duncan Robinson alongside the lottery pick.
With this deal, the Pelicans are just clearing up some space for an ideal big man, which they could trade for in the next summer.
