The NBA is a game of anticipation and speculation, and this season is no exception. An NBA writer has proposed a trade idea in which Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves will be traded to the New York Knicks.
The proposed trade idea is a deal between 4 teams, which include the Los Angeles Clippers, the Golden State Warriors, the Timberwolves, and the Knicks.
The Karl-Anthony Towns Trade
- The Los Angeles Clippers will receive Andrew Wiggins and Evan Fournier.
- The Golden State Warriors will receive Paul George.
- The New York Knicks will receive Karl-Anthony Towns, Kyle Anderson, Moses Moody, and a 2028 First Round Pick (Los Angeles Clippers).
- The Minnesota Timberwolves will receive Julius Randle, Gary Payton II, Josh Hart, Immanuel Quickley, a 2024 First Round Draft Pick (New York Knicks), and a 2026 First-Round Pick (New York Knicks).

Towns is a 3 time NBA All-Star and has averaged around 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in the last NBA Season.
The Timberwolves star scored around 49.5% of the shots from the field, 36.6% of the shots from beyond the arc, and 87.4% of the shots from the free throw line.
The Wolves veteran signed a 4-year extension contract worth $224.2 million in July 2022.
However, the Wolves have not been able to qualify for the playoffs in the Towns era, which started in 2015-16. And since Anthony Edwards is signing a whopping $260 million contract with the Timberwolves for 5 years, there are speculations that suggest the departure of Karl-Anthony Towns.
Karl is a player who is the target of many teams in the free agency trade.
Tim MacMahon of ESPN wrote that:
“There has been some discussion about Towns, but it shouldn’t be a surprise if that gets much louder as the trade deadline nears.”
“The face of the franchise for the Timberwolves has transitioned to Edwards, fresh off signing a new potential supermax extension. If Minnesota is going to make another major change, it would need to be by trading Towns.”
To which Jamal Collier of ESPN added:
“Minnesota did not live up to expectations last season, and had Towns not missed such a significant portion of the campaign with an injury, there might already be more questions surrounding that roster.”
The Knicks could have a solid roster with players like Towns, Jalen Brunson, Quentin Grimes, RJ Barrett, and Mitchell Robinson.
