The NBA trade season is intensifying, and a prominent trade rumor dominating the headlines revolves around the potential trade of Trae Young from the Hawks.
Trae signed a contract extension with the Atlanta Hawks for 5 years, worth $215.2 million, in August 2021. However, there are rumors that suggest that he may not finish his contract with the Hawks.
Trae Young’s Departure from Atlanta Hawks Amid Contract Uncertainty
According to an NBA executive, Trae Young will leave his current team, the Atlanta Hawks, to join another NBA team, and he may not even finish the contract extension worth $215.2 million.
The NBA Executive said:
“Moving on from Nate McMillan to Quin Snyder was simply a bandaid the Hawks put on the wound with Trae Young.”
“His issues with the organization go much deeper than the head coach. I have a very hard time thinking he stays long-term in Atlanta.”
“USA basketball is looking to win the gold not jack up 35 footers and go .500.”

Trae Young’s Career and Stats
Trae has an awesome career with the Atlanta Hawks. He has averaged around 26.2 points, with 3.0 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game, in the last NBA Season, for the Atlanta Hawks.
Trae shot around 42.9% of the shots from the floor, 33.5% of the shots from beyond the arc, and 88.6% from the free-throw line. He has also been a 2-time All-Star, making him an ideal player for most of the teams.
Young’s Disappointment with the Hawks
Young has been performing consistently well, while the Atlanta Hawks have been constantly struggling. Last time, the Hawks lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2023 NBA playoffs.
While Young performed very well in the game, the team still lost for multiple reasons, which disappointed him.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been keeping an eye on the young player and seem quite interested as well. They may consider acquiring him if he doesn’t complete his contract.
