The Charlotte Hornets surprised everybody this summer when they signed Brandon Miller, while everybody expected them to go with Scoot Henderson. The Hornets had their reason for not choosing Henderson, actually, they do not need a point guard at the moment. But now one can guess how the Hornets are trying to strengthen their squad.
Here are three trades that we think that the Hornets should do this offseason to build their roster.
Wizards’ Delon Wright to the Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets can offer their guard in exchange for the Wizards’ Delon Wright. This deal would provide the Hornets with a backup guard for both rotation and injury issues. Wright is a brilliant playmaker, and he would be a great addition to the roster. It is unlikely that the Wizards will agree to the trade since Bouknight’s value has dropped lately.

The Charlotte Hornets trade-off Gordon Hayward
The Hornets can send Gordon to the Spurs and can land Doug McDermott, Devonte’ Graham and Reggie Bullock in return. The Spurs got Victor Wembanyama in this draft, and they are trying to build a roster around him. To make space in the salary cap, they would like to let go of a few of their players. The Hornets can give them the best player in the deal to increase their squad depth.

The Charlotte Hornets can sign and trade PJ Washington to the Magic
The Hornets would get Jonathan Isaac and one second-round pick each from the year 2024 and 2025 if they manage to pull this off. Washington is a restricted free agent, and the situation is complex, but they might sign him. Washington is a brilliant player, and his versatility of guarding many positions makes him an attractive signing for a lot of teams. The Magic would love to land him, it would give them an elite floor-spacing player, and the Hornets would get a good player along with some draft picks.
The Hornets have many options in front of them and each of those either gives them assets or backups. What will be the plan of action of the Hornets? We’ll keep you updated.
