The Canadian Star basketball player Andrew Wiggins won the NBA Rookie of the Year award back in 2015. He was the Minnesota Timberwolves’ small forward at that time and created history in the 2014-15 season. Wiggins became the first Canadian to win that award; it was a matter of great honor for him. He was not just the first Canadian, but also he was the first Timberwolves” player to win that.
“I feel good, man. It’s a wonderful day for me, a day I’ll always remember. It’s a big day for Minnesota, a big day for Canada. I’m just proud of myself, to be able to accomplish everything I’ve done this year and being the first Canadian, the first Timberwolf, to get this award, it means a lot.” Wiggins said
Andrew Wiggins’ Rookie Season
In 2014-15, Andrew performed brilliantly and helped his team on multiple occasions. He played a total of 82 games and averaged 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
Wiggins struggle in the ongoing season
The ongoing NBA season has not been that good for Andre till now. He is currently playing for the Golden State Warriors but he is not looking at his best. He and Klay Thompson are getting criticized for their poor shooting skill. There is no doubt that both of them are a class player, but the thing is, they are not playing according to their potential.
Wiggins had a very slow start in the league, which is a matter of concern for the Warriors. Though the Warriors had a decent start, they need players like Andrew and Klay to step up to the full caliber. Stephen Curry is once again having a fantastic season and it looks like it will be his another MVP season.
2023-24 season stats
In the ongoing season, Andrew is averaging 11.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists. One more sad thing is that he has not played for more than 30 minutes in any games. Well, Warrior’s coach Steve Kerr is not that worried about Wiggins’ slow start. He believes that Wiggins will pick up very soon.

Stephen Curry is at his best, just like every other season; if Wiggins picks up the rhythm, then they will be in a stronger position. Warrior fans must be looking up to Andrew and Klay Thompson. It will be interesting to see their play in the upcoming matches.
