Talks of LeBron James’ retirement were in the air for quite some time. The NBA icon will be 38 years old during the 2023-24 season, marking his 21st year in the league. LeBron James has always wished to play alongside his sons Bronny and Bryce before he retires. LeBron James’ potential retirement was teased in a recent advertisement posted on his official X (Formerly Twitter) account, and we believe he still has a lot of time left in the NBA League.
LeBron James’ Retirement Pointing To An End Of An Era?
LeBron James’ retirement is not in the books anytime soon, not until he is on the same floor with his two sons, Bronny and Bryce. It was always clear that he wanted to play along or against his son on the same floor, which he confessed in several interviews.
In a 2022 Sports Illustrated interview with Chris Ballard, LeBron James stated that playing basketball with his sons would depend on the circumstances of his body and mind.
“I feel like I could play for quite a while, so it’s all up to my body, but more importantly, my mind. If my mind can stay sharp and fresh and motivated, then the sky’s not even a limit for me. I can go beyond that. But we shall see.”
In a Beats by Dre advertisement, basketball icon LeBron James appears alongside football star Erling Haaland. Savannah James, the spouse of King James, is also featured in the commercial, pushing him to say that he isn’t finished playing till he shares the court with his sons. The ad then depicts his younger kid, Bryce, followed by a voiceover that asserts, “Then Do It Again.” Thus, it seems likely that King James will continue to rule until 2026.

When Can We See Bryce On The Floor?
Bryce James, the younger son of LeBron James, is a 16-year-old attending Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. Earlier this month, young James grabbed a lot of attention with his debut with the Notre Dame Sherman Oaks team. Many NBA fans compared rising player Bryce to his father, LeBron James, after his outstanding performance.
LeBron James may have to wait until 2026 if he wants to play with his younger son, Bryce, according to a logical estimate. Bryce is required to finish his secondary schooling and wait a year or so before joining the Association. During this period, he can play in college, the G-League, or any other league. By then, LeBron James would be 40 years old, and he would need to remain active for the 2026–2027 season to play a professional game with his younger kid. We are optimistic that King James has a few more years left in his reign, given his legacy.
