The New York Knicks trade for a superstar has been on the cards for a while now. They have been looking for a franchise player since the summer. They are one of the richest franchises when it comes to draft capital, and they were ready to splash it all on somebody who could be the face of their team. But recent incidents have pushed them to change their plans.
Their 25-year-old center Mitchell Robinson suffered a long-term injury and is set to miss out on the remaining season. The NY Knicks are now looking for a player to replace their star for the time being. They are expected to battle it out with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Miami Heat, and the Oklahoma City Thunder for star players available in the NBA trade market. Here are three players we think that the New York Knicks can acquire to replace Mitchell Robinson.
The Dallas Mavericks Richaun Holmes trade to the New York Knicks
The 30-year-old center and forward Richaun Holmes has played 15 games for the Dallas Mavericks this season and has averaged 3.5 points, 0.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 48.9 percent from the field. He is a brilliant rim runner and finisher. His current stats might not do justice to what he brings to the table, but he can be a brilliant addition to the NY Knicks’ roster.

Dwight Howard Trade to the New York Knicks
The NY Knicks can bring 38-year-old Dwight Howard back to the NBA as well. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers way back in the 2021-22 season and averaged 6.2 points, 0.6 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 53.3 percent from beyond the arc. Should the NY Knicks give him another shot?

The Utah Jazz Kelly Olynyk Trade to the New York Knicks
The 30-year-old forward and center Kelly Olynyk has played 30 games this season and has averaged 7.9 points, 4.5 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41.8 percent from beyond the arc. The NY Knicks can offer some draft capital to push the trade.
