Philadelphia 76ers is a name that doesn’t come up much in the trade rumors news but could play a huge role in it. With three of their top players turning into a free agent, the 76ers will have a huge cap space open. Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris, and JJ Redick are planning to leave the Philly team and has joined the 2019 NBA free agency.

The offered deal could go as high as $140 million, and it would be foolish for the 76ers to re-sign them. On the other hand, if the Philadelphia team let their star players go, they would have plenty of money to get new players. Recent reports indicate that the 76ers are planning to lure Kawhi Leonard and pair him up with Jimmy Butler.
Kawhi Leonard meeting 76ers
The latest reports indicate that Kawhi Leonard is meeting up with the Philadephia 76ers at the start of July. While it doesn’t mean that Leonard will sign a deal, but maybe something will be negotiated. Most of the speculations say the finals MVP will go with the LA Clippers or re-sign to Raptors.
Even LeBron James met with the Philadelphia 76ers last year, but it was just a part of the process and nothing else. The same thing can happen this year, where the meeting is normal, as Leonard is meeting other teams like Clippers, Nets, Knicks, and Raptors.
Focus only on Jimmy Butler
If we leave the new players aside, the Philadelphia team has to at least re-sign one of its players. The possibles choices are Butler and Harris, out of which the former has performed way better. Jimmy Butler has good stats with 19.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game in the NBA 2018-19 playoffs.
While Tobias Harris didn’t do that well and could not even score more than 16 points in the game against Raptors. The 76ers could trade the other players and maybe somehow convince Kawhi Leonard to join them, so the Butler-Leonard duo can play together.
