Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum is also one of those who are hating on this In-Season Tournament. This time, a new thing has been introduced in the NBA tournament, and it is the In-Season Tournament. Many fans are still confused about the purpose of the tournament and what are the rules. Many analysts termed it as unnecessary, and they believe it is something that is forced. In contrast, there are people who raised questions about the name of the tournament.
Jayson Tatum view on In-Season Tournament
Recently, during a media interaction, Jayson Tatum expressed his view on the In-Season Tournament which seems like came out of frustration because at that time the Celtics were almost out of the IST and their survival was dependent on other teams performance too.
“You wanna win every game you play. The point differential thing, I’m not the biggest fan of it. I guess last Friday when the game was already over and guys were still trying to score, it’s all about respecting the game, respecting your opponents. Not a fan of cause if you’re on the opposite end of that, you’ll feel some kind of weight. Just trying to win the game however you can.” Jayson Tatum said
Well, the Boston Celtics are in a very crucial stage right now, and they need to win every game that they play to hold their position in the tournament. Jayson Tatum hating on IST is a different thing. The reality is they did not play that well, and now they need to gear up for further matches.
"The point differential thing, I'm not the biggest fan of it … last Friday where the game was already over and the guys still trying to score, you know, it's all about respecting the game and respecting your opponents."

Player’s view on the new tournament
Not all players are hating on the inclusion of IST. Draymond Green is one of them who appreciated the new inclusion. Green believes that this addition brings up the excitement, which is quite good for the other players.
It’s a job well done to the NBA, adding this type of excitement in November, because there are some dark days in November, but you get games like this, you can appreciate them. It was great.” Green said
Many players are not clear about their views on this. Marcus Smart is one of them who bluntly expressed his views against this.
“Being completely honest, nobody cares about [winning in-season tournament], it’s the big one that we care about.” Marcus Smart said
One of the possible reasons behind the hate can be the players trying to score points even after a clear win since it brings an advantage in the IST. But many players believe it to be against the spirit of the game. Well, this is a new thing that will surely take some time to make its impact.
