The Toronto Raptors’ guard Gary Trent is expected to play for the Magic in the upcoming season. The Raptors had a terrible season and they are likely to make a lot of changes or to phrase it right, trade off a lot of their stars. At the same time, the Magic would look forward to trading some quality players.
The Magic did great last season and they would like to carry forward the same momentum. Gary played a total of 66 games for the Raptors last season and averaged 17.4 points, 1.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game. Can the Magic land him for their own good? Here is all the information you need about the trade between the Toronto Raptors and the Orlando Magic involving Gary Trent.
What would the Magic offer for Gary Trent?
The Magic might give up on Jonathan Isaac and a 2025 first-round pick in exchange for Gary Trent. The Raptors tried to build their roster with a lot of playmaking wings which is generally preferred because it is difficult to guard playmakers. The Magic are creating a similar squad and they would not like to face the same problem of struggle at shooting and less half court creation.
Despite losing VanVleet, the Raptors believe they can still compete with the top teams in the East and do not want to trade OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam, or Gary Trent Jr.

Why would the Magic like to sign Gary Trent?
The Magic have Paolo Banchero on their roster, who might not be as good as Scottie Barnes at defending but he is a much better scorer than him. The Magic are in dire need of a shooter only, they do not have creativity, playmaking and floor spacing issues. Trent does not only bring shooting but can do good enough at defending as well.

Why would the Raptors let Gary Trent go?
The Raptors are building themselves for the future, and it is highly unlikely that they would keep Gary. They know that Isaac is injury prone, but if he manages to keep himself healthy, the Raptors would be on the moon. Isaac is a great defensive option for the Raptors, and they would pray to see more of him on the court.
Will Gary help the Magic the way they expect them to? Will Isaac be able to keep himself fit? We’ll keep you updated.
