Could the Miami Heat win the NBA 2023-24 title without Tyler Herro? The young star worked hard the whole season but couldn’t be a part of the playoff run due to injury.
Does this mean the Heat could trade the young point guard? The Heat’s number 1 trade target for this season was Damian Lillard.
However, he has already been traded. If the Heat had acquired Lillard, they would have traded Herro to the Blazers. But after Lillard’s trade, Herro has backfired on the Trail Blazers. Here’s why!
Tyler Herro Speaks Out on Miami Heat’s Playoff Run Without Him
The Miami Heat were one of the best teams in the last season. They made it to the playoffs but lost against the Denver Nuggets in the final run. While Herro was a part of the Heat’s roster, he didn’t join them in the final run, since he got injured.
The Heat played very well even without their guard, Herro. This situation sparked Herro’s trade speculations in the trade market. Not only the fans, but the Kentucky product wasn’t happy to hear this news.
Herro said:
“I got hurt and obviously we went on a run.”
“So I don’t know if that changed people’s perspectives on the way that I play or my value. Nothing has changed. I haven’t gotten any worse. I’ve only gotten better, older, more experienced. And our team didn’t get better without me, we just started shooting better and making shots. We didn’t make shots all year. And I’m the best shooter on the team. So I don’t think with me sitting out affected our shooting percentage. I just think we started making shots.”

Tyler Herro on Portland Trade Buzz: ‘Glad They Didn’t Want Me!’
Herro has been constantly in the news headlines, as was one of the top young guards on the trading block this year. It was expected that the Heat will trade him to the Portland Trail Blazers to acquire Damian Lillard, as a part of the upgrade process.
Lillard’s PR team was trying to connect every single dot to get him traded to the Heat. However, the Blazers didn’t show any interest in acquiring Herro in exchange for their star guard Damian Lillard.
Tyler Herro said:
“I didn’t want to go to Portland, so I’m glad Portland didn’t want me.”
“I just don’t want to be in Portland. So it’s not personal with Portland, at all. I’m just happy to be on the court. I haven’t played since April. I broke my hand and I haven’t played since then, so I’m ready to play.”
Some experts suggests if a 3rd or 4th team have been involved in the trade, the Heat would have treaded their young guard in exchange for Lillard.
However, there was no deal between the Blazers and the Heat. But if the Heat is still looking to upgrade it’s roster, we wouldn’t be surprised if they trade Tyler Herro.
