The New York Knicks are keeping an eye on the Minnesota Timberwolves star, Karl-Anthony Towns. An NBA Insider has revealed that the Knicks could potentially acquire Towns in a trade deal. Here’s how!
Will Towns be Traded to the Knicks?
Karl-Anthony Towns has been linked to multiple NBA teams this offseason. Currently, the New York Knicks are eyeing Towns from the Wolves.
As per the NBA Insider Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News, the head coach of the Knicks, Tom Thibodeau, is interested in coaching Towns for the franchise. The coach of the Knicks used to coach Towns when they were both part of the Wolves team.
Karl-Anthony Towns Stats and Career Average
Towns is a 3 times NBA All-Star. He averaged around 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in the last season while playing for the Wolves. He scored around 49.5% of the shots from the field, 36.6% of the shots from beyond the arc, and 87.4% of the shots from the free throw line.
Karl-Anthony signed a 4-year contract extension with the Wolves for a whopping $22.2 million in July 2022. Towns joined the Wolves in the 2015-16 NBA Season. However, during his era, the team has not been able to qualify for the playoffs.
Towns’ Next Destination
Currently, Towns’ future is being determined with the Wolves’ since they have extended Anthony Edwards with a 5-year deal worth $260 million.
While Town wasn’t at the top of the trading block for this offseason, he could be on top of the trading block for the NBA 2023-24 Season.

“The face of the franchise for the Timberwolves has transitioned to Edwards, fresh off signing a new potential supermax extension. If Minnesota is going to make another major change, it would need to be by trading Towns.”
Jamal Collier added:
“Minnesota did not live up to expectations last season, and had Towns not missed such a significant portion of the campaign with an injury, there might already be more questions surrounding that roster.”
