Donovan Mitchell is expected to be a free player soon. The Orlando Magic has an excellent roster with multiple dynamic players on board.
However, they are considering making some changes by acquiring a quality guard who can consistently shoot and create in half-court sets.
But the description only fits star guards. Furthermore, there are no star guards available to trade right now. Could they acquire Donovan Mitchell from the Cavaliers when he is available?
The Donovan Mitchell Trade Proposal
- The Cleveland Cavaliers will receive forward/center Jonathan Isaac, guard/forward Gary Harris, the 2024 first-round draft pick (Orlando Magic), the 2025 first-round draft pick (Protected by top 5 – Denver Nuggets via Orlando Magic), the 2027 first-round draft pick (Orlando Magic).
- The Orlando Magic will receive guard Donovan Mitchell.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to make some adjustments to their roster. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen didn’t do well together in the previous season, so they might consider trading one of these players. But could they also trade Donovan Mitchell as a result?
Could the Cavaliers Trade Donovan Mitchell to the Magic?
In this trade deal, the Cavaliers will receive Jonathan Isaac and Gary Harris. The Cavs could pair Evan Mobley with Isaac to form a versatile defense wing. However, since Isaac is not fit, this idea won’t work out for them.
Moreover, the Cavaliers will receive Harris, who has the ability to replace Mitchell in the starting lineup and become their best 3-and-D guard. The Cavs could pair Harris with Garland.
However, since Harris is not as good as Donovan Mitchell in offense, the Cavaliers would also receive 3 draft picks in exchange, making it a great deal for them.
Could the Magic Acquire Mitchell from the Cavaliers?
The Magic could acquire Donovan as they want to be in the playoffs next season. They could pair him with their other two big men, Banchero and Wagner, to form their BIG3.
