The Charlotte Hornets’ forward Gordon Hayward is expected to get moved to the San Antonio Spurs this summer. The Spurs have a lot of players on their roster, and they would like to send away a few as they can’t play all of them until and unless they do something very extraordinary.
The players which the Spurs might not be able to give the game time they deserve are precious to other teams. The Spurs can get a good value for any of them and that can be used to get a star player. Gordon Hayward is one of those stars, can they land him this summer? Here is all the information you need about the trade between the San Antonio Spurs and the Charlotte Hornets involving Gordon Hayward.
What would the Spurs offer for Gordon Hayward?
The Spurs are expected to trade off Devonte’ Graham, Reggie Bullock, and Khem Birch in exchange for Gordon Hayward. The new CBA is expected to alter the strategies of a few teams as well. They would like to keep themselves inside the salary cap. To accomplish that, they might be needed to bid farewell to a few important names just like the Hornets did with PJ Washington.

Why would the Hornets like to send Gordon Hayward away?
The Hornets would love to do this deal in context to their salary cap since they are getting two players whose contracts expire very soon and the third is Graham. They can keep Graham, as he is their former player and would work nicely as a backup point guard. Bullock and Birch are quality players and will improve the roster as well. There have been some whispers about Hayward’s desire to leave the team as well. This deal works in favor of the Hornets in every sense.

Why would the Spurs like to sign Gordon Hayward?
The Spurs are making big changes this summer, they landed Victor Wembanyama, and now they are building their roster around him. They are freeing up space and getting the best player involved in the deal. This can not hurt them except for the dent it would make in the salary cap.
The Spurs and the Hornets are both getting what they desire in this deal. But are they ready for the consequences? We’ll keep you updated.
