NBA trade deals are often made on the basis of trade proposals by Insiders and NBA news writers. One such trade proposal making the buzz among the fans is the Kawhi Leonard trade proposal.
Lee Tran is a popular news writer from Fadeaway World who has proposed a trade between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers. Here is the possible trade scenario.
The Kawhi Leonard Trade Deal
- The Los Angeles Clippers will receive Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, and the 2027 First-Round Draft Pick.
- The Golden State Warriors will receive Kawhi Leonard in exchange.
Lee Tran wrote:
“Last season, Kawhi Leonard averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists, while shooting 41.6% from the 3PT range.”
“He has shown that he can be the No. 1 option on a championship team, and the main things that bring down his value are his injury history and his contract situation. There is no doubt that he is the sort of player that the Golden State Warriors need to get back to being the favorite to win the championship. Kawhi Leonard can also play off-ball effectively and isn’t extremely ball-dominant, so he would be a perfect fit within the team’s system.”
Leonard’s Importance for the Los Angeles Clippers
Kawhi is prone to injuries, and he had surgery on his right knee when he was suffering from a torn meniscus. This happened in the last season’s playoffs while he was playing against the Phoenix Suns.
Leonard’s importance can be determined by the team’s win/loss record. He wasn’t able to play for the last five matches against the Suns, and the Clippers lost all five matches without him.
Kawhi Leonard’s Career and Stats
Kawhi has averaged around 34.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6 assists in one match out of the two he played against the Suns before his knee injury.
Still can’t get over how Kawhi Leonard just tossed Kevin Durant the ball after dunking it on him, mad disrespectful 😭 pic.twitter.com/acMFLRYaLy

He has been named two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and signed a $176.3 million deal with the LA Clippers in August 2021. However, he didn’t play in the NBA 2021-22 Season at all due to his knee injury.
