The Phoenix Suns want to trade for the Toronto Raptors’ OG Anunoby. However, since the big man has a higher trade value, the Suns’ might struggle to acquire him from the Raptors. Find out the complete details!
Suns Hungry for Raptors’ OG Anunoby, But Will the High Stakes Pay Off?
The latest trade rumor suggests that the Suns want to acquire OG Anunoby in a trade deal. But Anunoby’s trade value is much higher, and the Suns’ don’t have a lot of assets to acquire him.
A popular NBA Insider, Gerald Bourguet, wrote in his latest NBA trade column:
“OG Anunoby is another player the Suns would love to get their hands on, but his trade value is much higher than Jakob Poeltl’s.”
“Earlier this summer, the Raptors were getting offers for Anunoby similar to the one the Brooklyn Nets reportedly got for Mikal Bridges from the Memphis Grizzlies (four first-round picks).
Bourget further added:
“At this point, one source said offers for Anunoby have dwindled. Toronto has tried circling back to those previous offers, but teams are declining to meet that price. Perhaps that will open the door for discussions with Phoenix as part of a larger deal, but Deandre Ayton by himself likely wouldn’t be enough to get Anunoby, let alone Poeltl and Anunoby.”
OG Anunoby Career Average, Stats, and Next Destination
OG has averaged around 16.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists while playing for the Toronto Raptors in the last season. He scored around 47.6% of the shots from the field, 38.7% of the shots from beyond the arc, and 83.3% of the shots from the free throw line.
He is one of the most reliable players of the Raptors since he hasn’t requested a trade. The Raptors drafted OG with the 23rd overall draft pick in 2017.
The British native signed a $72 million contract extension with the Raptors in 2020 for 4 years, and he was able to sign a $116 million contract extension for 4 years with the Raptors.
The small forward has averaged around 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists for the Raptors. Moreover, he won the title in 2019 against the Golden State Warriors in a total of 6 regular games.
Knicks, Grizzlies, Suns in Tug-of-War Over Raptors’ OG Anunoby Amid Sky-High Trade Stakes
While there are many teams linked to the star forward, the New York Knicks and the Memphis Grizzlies are the top teams eyeing the Raptors’ shooting guard.
Suns trade Deandre Ayton, and get OG Anunoby and Jusuf Nurkic in return.
If that’s on the table, is that a deal the Suns should make?
In my opinion, absolutely. pic.twitter.com/Tcz8CsYkRq

However, the trade rumors suggest that the Raptors are not interested in trading Anunoby.
Eric Koreen of The Athletic wrote:
“If Siakam signs the max extension the Raptors can offer him, he would make about $45.5 million in the second season of that contract, 2025-26.”
“Let’s also assume Scottie Barnes signs a maximum rookie extension, starting at 25 percent of the cap, next summer, with that contract beginning in 2025-26. If the cap goes up by 10 percent every year, Barnes’ contract would start around $41.1 million.”
If the Suns are able to acquire OG from the Raptors, they could start big with players like Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and OG Anunoby.
