The San Antonio Spurs guard and forward Keldon Johnson is in talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers for a trade. It is hard to do the valuation of big defensive guys like Johnson. They are a double-edged sword, they can not do much when it comes to three-pointers, but their presence allows others to be aggressive and deny chances.
The Cavaliers’ offense is the main reason they would like to do this swap trade. Allen and Mobley put on a show when it came to defense, but their offensive skills were far from satisfactory. Would they trade him to the Spurs? Here is all the information you need about the trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs involving Keldon Johnson.
What would the Cavaliers offer for Keldon Johnson?
The deal is speculated to be a swap. The Cavaliers would send Jarrett Allen in exchange for Keldon Johnson. They expect that Johnson would take over the defensive responsibilities and Mobley would be able to play at the 5. Mobley’s struggle has been his shooting. Would these changes fix the Cavaliers’ issues? It might not but it is worth taking a chance. Grizzlies’ Adams and Jackson have done it. Can Johnson and Mobley replicate it?

Why would the Cavaliers like to sign Keldon Johnson?
The Cavaliers are making a choice here, they can either choose to strengthen their rim protection or switch ability. Johnson’s arrival would allow them to try new things. Johnson can do it all by himself when it comes to shooting, and Mobley would help the wingers to flourish. Everything points to the same thing. The Cavaliers would improve with Johnson’s arrival.

Why would the Spurs like to trade off Johnson?
The Spurs have Wembanyama and playing Allen alongside him might not make sense to a lot of people. Mobley struggles at shooting while Wembanyama doesn’t. The Spurs are getting what the Cavaliers had, but better. Are the Spurs trusting their young roster to win it for them? And if not, is it worth taking the risks?
The swap makes both teams better. They get what they need, and they also get rid of what strangles them. Will we see the swap happening? We’ll keep you updated.
