The Brooklyn Nets’ guard and forward Ben Simmons is likely to be signed by the Dallas Mavericks this summer. Defense has been a significant issue for the Mavericks for a while now and they would like to strengthen their squad by signing a defender.
But Ben’s health is a major concern for any team who tries to land him. He played only 42 games for the Nets last season as well. But the latest updates have stated that Ben is fit as ever. Should the Mavericks take the risk and add him to their squad? Here is all the information you need about the trade between the Brooklyn Nets and the Dallas Mavericks involving Ben Simmons.
What would the Mavericks offer for Ben Simmons?
The Mavericks can offer Tim Hardaway and Christian Wood in exchange for Ben Simmons. This is a great deal for both the teams, Ben’s arrival will give the much required boost to the Mavericks’ defense and if Ben does not perform up to the mark, they can either trade him off or let him go at the end of the 2024-25 season when his contract expires.
The Nets would get two players in exchange which would shape their roster in a much efficient and better way. Ben might decline even more and for now this looks like a steal deal for them.

How did Ben Simmons perform last season?
Ben managed to play only 42 games last season and averaged 6.9 points per game. With his knee and back issue he somehow had 6.1 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game as well. He was speculated to be one of the best of this generation but even though he won 2017-18 rookie of the year award and made it to three All-Star teams, two All-Defensive teams and one All-NBA team, he is now considered overrated by nearly everybody.
Austin Rivers on Dame’s trade request:
"If you were a free agent, then you could choose where you were gonna go… This started with James [Harden] and Ben [Simmons] and all these guys doing this sh*t. It's bad for the league."
