Though football has always been the favorite child among America’s professional sports, popular poll results show that this sport remains far ahead of both basketball and baseball in popularity.
According to Wall Street Journal, Last Season’s Super Bowl league was the least-viewed league match in 2009. Whereas, the NBA has seen a significant rise in the viewership since 2013-2014.
The average viewer for the NBA is around 42-years old whereas the average viewer for the NFL is around 50 years. It seems like football is continuously losing its value to the basketball and the reasons behind this are so evident.
The major turning point happened when the social media engagement for the NBA became so prevalent and robust. A key point to be noted is that no other sports board in America could offer enough content to make a social media post go so viral.
