The Minnesota Timberwolves’ center and forward, Karl Anthony Towns, might get traded to the New York Knicks this offseason. He has not been that great but it is probably because the Timberwolves are unable to use the player properly, and his shortcomings are being an obstruction here. The Knicks need a quality player and they are eyeing the likes of Joel Embiid, Donovan Mitchell, and Karl Anthony Towns.
The Kentucky Wildcats product played 29 games for the Timberwolves last season and averaged 20.8 points, 4.8 assists, and 8.1 rebounds per game while shooting 36.3 percent from beyond the arc. A trade involving three teams is on the cards, and the Knicks would love to have Karl on their roster. Can they pull it off? Here is all the information you need about the trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, and the New York Knicks involving Karl Anthony Towns.
What would the Timberwolves receive for Karl Anthony Towns?
The three team trade would make Mitchell Robinson a part of the Pelican’s roster while the Knicks would receive the Timberwolves’ #32. The Timberwolves would get Jonas Valanciunas, Evan Fournier, Dyson Daniels, and one first-round pick each from the years 2026 and 2028. Other options might be there in the market very soon. Will the Knicks wait?
Since the 2019 Draft, only four Kentucky alumni have scored 3500 PTS on 35% shooting from three:

Why would the Knicks like to sign Karl Anthony Towns?
The Knicks are paying very little for a star player here. They can part ways with Julius Randle and play Karl there, that would make them a much better team. They are getting one of the finest offensive big men, and they would not like to give up on that opportunity.

Why would the Timberwolves trade-off Karl Anthony Towns?
The Timberwolves tried everything they could to cover up for Karl’s shortcomings, but even signing Rudy Gobert did not work for them. They are likely to trade off either of the two, and since Karl would give them better returns, he is more likely to leave. Will they really let the three time NBA All Star go?
Will we see improvements in Karl’s game if his surroundings change? How will the Timberwolves line up without him? We’ll keep you updated.
