An NBA Insider has revealed that the Golden State Warriors might step back from signing Dwight Howard. The veteran center is making a comeback to the league and had a meeting with the Warriors, but it seems like it didn’t work out for him.
Why the Warriors Won’t Sign Dwight Howard Despite LA Meet-Up?
Dwight Howard had a meeting with the Golden State Warriors in Los Angeles. He spent time with Chris Paul and Draymond Green. However, it seems like he wasn’t able to convince the Warriors to sign him.
Howard wasn’t signed by any NBA team last year, so he spent his time playing overseas in Taiwan. The 37-year-old might be able to make a comeback to the league, but the Warriors are definitely not the team for him.

Sham Charania of The Athletic has reported that the Warriors are focused on retaining their current roster and not interested in adding a big man to the team.
Dwight Howard’s Quest for NBA Return Hits Wall Despite Stellar Past
Howard is a free agent right now and is eligible to sign with any NBA or overseas team. However, sources hint that he is only interested in joining an NBA team.
The former LA Lakers champion has averaged around 15.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Washington Wizards.
While Howards is 37 years old, he is still healthy and in good shape. Last time in the NBA league, he played for the Lakers in the Season 2021-22, where he averaged around 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds.
The former is a potential Hall of Famer, and he has the ability to provide up to 25 minutes of dominant gameplay to any team, as reported by Zion Olojede of Complex.
Howard said:
“I know I can provide a team with 25 minutes of dominant basketball.”
“And that’s not even scoring, that’s just playing defense, locking people up, protecting the paint, rebounding, and finishing around the basket. I’ve had my fun in the game. I just want to go out like a champ like I’m supposed to.”
While the Warriors have made some bold moves this offseason by trading Jordan Poole to the Wizards and acquiring Paul in the deal, they are not open to signing Dwight Howard.
The Warriors could have a great start as they have Paul, Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and other skilled players on their roster.
