Los Angeles Lakers have not been able to perform up to the fan’s expectations in the 2023-24 NBA Season. With LeBron James playing at an elite level and Anthony Davis on the roster, the Lakers were expected to be one of the serious title contenders in the current season.
However, they are struggling to perform consistently. One of the disappointments on the Lakers’ roster is Anthony Davis performing inconsistently. As a result, could the Lakers’ superstar James ask for Davis’ replacement? Would Joel Embiid be an ideal replacement for Davis?
Could LeBron James Request Anthony Davis’ Replacement?
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the biggest disappointments in the Western Conference. They are sitting at number 8 in the current season, and they have fallen short of expectations.
Despite having superstar players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster, the Lakers are not able to perform well. One major reason behind the Lakers’ poor performance is Davis’ inconsistency.

James has been consistent in the current season, averaging around 25.7 points, 6.7 assists, and 8.1 rebounds per game. He is one of the best players on the Lakers’ roster and looking like an MVP for the ongoing season. But still, the Lakers are not able to win games consistently.
This is because Anthony Davis has not been able to find consistency throughout this season. He has been inconsistent due to injuries, currently averaging around 21.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game.
Lakers Eyeing Joel Embiid as Anthony Davis’ Inconsistent Play Raises Questions
Davis’ inconsistency is a major factor in that the Lakers are not able to win any games. Moreover, reports suggest LeBron James is unhappy with Davis’ performance and could request his replacement.
One player who can replace Davis on the Lakers’ roster is Joel Embiid. He is one of the best big men in the league, averaging around 31.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.
Embiid is a dominating big man and was also named a 2-time All-star. He would be an ideal replacement for Davis as he is a consistent performer. Moreover, he is a better defender than Davis.
However, trading for Embiid won’t be easy for the Lakers. It would take a lot of valuable assets to trade for a big man like Embiid. The Lakers would be taking a huge risk if they trade for Embiid in a trade deal. But this deal could also make the Lakers serious title contenders, which makes it a worthwhile investment.
