Houston Rockets Eyeing Shocking Early Exit for Dillon Brooks
As per a trade news by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, the Rockets will trade Dillon Brooks in a trade deal this year. The Rockets signed Brooks for 4 years, but they want to end his contract as soon as this year.
Swartz wrote in his NBA column:
“Brooks’ four-year, $86 million contract looks bad now, but it will become an even bigger problem when Houston’s young core come off their rookie deals.”
“Jalen Green and Alperen Şengün will be eligible to sign extensions in 2024, and Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason will follow suit in 2025. New head coach Ime Udoka is going to grow tired of Brooks’ self-imposed green light, especially with so many young mouths to feed on this roster.”
Swartz further added:
“The Rockets have a ton of young talent and were smart to get a veteran point guard in Fred VanVleet to bring out the best in them. However, don’t be surprised if they look to get out of the Brooks contract as early as this year.”
The Memphis Grizzlies didn’t extend Brooks’s contract since they didn’t like the shots he created on the offense, as reported by an NBA news reported Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
Brooks joined hands with the Rockets for a 4 years deal worth $86 million as a sign-and-trade deal with the Grizzlies.

Brooks Faces Uncertain Future in Houston After Bold LeBron James Diss and Memphis Exit
The 27-year-old star was controversial due to his statements against the superstar player LeBron James, calling him “old” after the Grizzlies won in Game 2.
The Memphis told Brooks that they wouldn’t bring him back on the roster, and the Grizzlies stayed on their word.
MacMahon said:
“Ime Udoka wanted him.”
“He valued him. He’s in Houston a large part because of that. It’s on Ime Udoka to deal with that stuff and get the best version of Dillon Brooks that also creates the best possible scenarios for these young guys to grow.”
