The Charlotte Hornets’ forward and center PJ Washington is rumored to join the Orlando Magic. We are nearing the end of the NBA free agency, but the Hornets’ 24-year-old is yet to be on any team’s roster. Where would he end up playing in the 2023-24 season?
Washington is a versatile talent. He can play the 4 and man the 5 too. His guarding and floor spacing makes him a player who everybody would love to have on their roster. His contract has expired, and the Hornets have not offered him another. If they part ways, where can the youngster go? The Magic have shown interest in signing him. Here is all the information you need about the trade between the Charlotte Hornets and the Orlando Magic involving PJ Washington.
What would the Magics offer for PJ Washington?
The Magics can build a package including Jonathan Isaac and a second-round pick each from the year 2025 and 2027 in exchange for Magics’ PJ Washington. It was assumed that the Hornets would retain him, and they have every reason to do so, but surprisingly they have not. The Magic have a great opportunity to land a probable future star.
PJ Washington would be a nice PF/C who is a jack of all trades, master of none for the Mavs
He would provide 3 point shooting, some scoring upside, and switchability on defense.

Why would the Magics like to sign PJ Washington?
The Magic already have a ton of the starting 4s. Why do they need another? That is because Washington is one of the finest small balls 5 in the NBA. His addition would allow the wings to play more freely. Even though the proposed trade deal involves only Isaac, adding Harris to the package would not hurt the Magics.
For all the PJ Washington fans:
“At this juncture, it appears the Hornets would prefer to work on a sign-and-trade rather than Washington accepting the qualifying offer.”
However, he hasn’t received any offers that reach $16 million annually https://t.co/r6Nu74mQRw

Why would the Hornets let PJ Washington go?
The Hornets are working on their salary cap management, they drafted Miller who might get the max extension soon enough. Washington’s departure would give them the flexibility they desire. They would also get Isaac back, and if he manages to stay fit, it would be a steal deal for the Hornets.
Would the Hornets prefer flexibility over a quality player? Would the Magics really trust Washington’s versatility this much? And lastly, where would Washington end up playing? We’ll keep you updated.
