The Los Angeles Clippers team were at the top in the race of signing Kawhi Leonard before the free agency started. While the free agency is about to end, Leonard has still not taken a decision. Even though reports say that Leonard might go with the Lakers or stay back with the Raptors, there is no official confirmation for any of it.

There are some rumors which state that the Clippers team if the first choice of Kawhi Leonard. If the rumors turn out to be true, then the LA Clippers could make history in the next NBA season. Leonard was the main reason why the Raptors won NBA 2019 finals and he can repeat the same next year. Here are the reasons why the Clippers have a strong claim for NBA 2020 finals with Leonard in their team.
Clippers Team will be very Strong
The Clippers have been doing great in NBA without any major star player and has proved that they can be a champion team. In the last NBA season of 2018-19, the Clippers managed to get into playoffs without a single All-Star player. Patrick Beverly has been re-signed for a three-year contract at $40 million by the Clippers. Lou Williams with 20.0 points and 5.4 assists, Danilo Gallinari with 19.8 points and 6.1 rebounds are looking good.
Montrezl Harrell with 16.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game is also back in form. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Landry Shamet and Gilgeous-Alexander have also great potential. The Clippers have saved most of their cap space money in case Kawhi Leonard agrees for a deal. All the other players and Leonard in the mix can make the Clippers a very strong team in the next NBA season.
Not much Competition
The Golden State Warriors won’t be able to do much without Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan in their team. D’Angelo Russel has left the Brooklyn Nets, and Kyrie Irving alone won’t be enough as Durant is still injured. Without Kawhi Leonard, the Raptors hardly have any chance for the next finals.

If Leonard doesn’t go to the Lakers, the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis can’t do much. There is no NBA team, which can be a tough competition for the Lakers. A deal with Leonard can actually make it possible for the Clippers to win the NBA 2020 finals.
