- In return, the Los Angeles Lakers will receive the guard Malcolm Brogdon.
Why the Los Angeles Lakers Would Take Risk and Acquire Malcolm Brogdon?
Malcolm is a great defender and fits well in the Lakers’ roster. However, the Lakers have Russell Westbrook, whose contract isn’t expiring soon.
Russell is a dominant point guard, and his ability to space the floor is just unmatched. Additionally, he has the unique ability to pick-and-roll the basketball, similar to Brogdon.
The Lakers would prefer Russell over Malcolm any day. And they can’t make this trade deal tomorrow since they already have a good point guard who fits perfectly on their roster.
If Brogdon performs well and overcomes his health issues, he would be a great addition to the Lakers. But the fans are wondering whether or not the Celtics should trade him.

By trading Malcolm, the Celtics would acquire Russell, who fits well in the team. This trade deal would be a straight swap which may not appeal to the Celtics. They are giving away one of the most valuable players, so they would want a little more in return.
