NBA is a sport with frequent dynamic changes, trade talks and player acquisitions are constant sources of speculation. Among the recent NBA trade buzz, it has been revealed that the Dallas Mavericks are maintaining their interest in Clint Capela of the Atlanta Hawks.
Mavericks Eager to Pair Clint Capela with Star Duo
According to the well-renowned NBA journalist Brian Windhorst from NBA Insiders, along with the Tim MacMahon of ESPN, it has been revealed that the Dallas Mavericks are still interested in Clint Capela. The Mavericks are willing to pair Clint, the big man, with Kyrie Irving and Luka Donic.
Marc Stein released a podcast on Apple Podcast, talking about the potential trade. Stein said:
“The Mavericks don’t want to be done.”
“Maybe they are done with this roster because further moves are not available to them. They would love it if the chance to make another trade run at Clint Capela from the Atlanta Hawks materializes to this point. That opportunity has not availed itself to the Mavericks.
“But will Atlanta move Capela elsewhere which creates an opportunity for Dallas to try to get in as a third team? Or would they trade him somewhere to a team that really only needs him for contract purposes, salary cap matching purposes in the trade, and then that team makes Capela available?”
Clint Capela’s Impactful Performance: Key Player for the Atlanta Hawks
Clint Capela averaged 12 points alongside 11 rebounds in the last NBA Season for the Atlanta Hawks. Clint had a shooting percentage of around 65.3% on the field.
As of 2023, Clint is a 29-year-old center player. He signed a 2-year contract of $45.5 million, including the contract extension amount, with the Hawks in September 2021.
Grant Hughes Unveils Dallas Mavericks’ Intriguing Offer to the Atlanta Hawks
A well-known writer from the Bleacher Report, Grant Hughes, has revealed that the Dallas Mavericks are interested in making a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. According to the proposal, the Mavericks would send the following to the Atlanta Hawks:
- Tim Hardaway Jr.
- Josh Green
- A 2025 Second-Round Pick
In return, the Mavericks would get Clint from the Atlanta Hawks.
Hughes said:
“To bring aboard their sought-after shot-blocking, board-hoarding center, the Mavericks have to cough up a package headlined by Josh Green, a promising connective wing who can cut, pass on the move, defend and hit open threes.”
“If he can replicate the 40.2 percent he shot from distance last year, Green, still just 22, could be a huge get for the Hawks.”
“There are permutations of this deal that include the Toronto Raptors and Pascal Siakam, but this is a fairly simple construction. If Atlanta truly believes Onyeka Okongwu is ready to take over starting duties, moving Capela and the $43 million he’s owed through 2024-25 for more shooting and cost-controlled guard depth is a good way to balance the roster and tidy up the books.”
