Neal McDonough was apparently fired from “Scoundrels”, the ABC series, as he refused to indulge in sex scenes with Virginia Madsen, his co-star, back in 2010 and he was totally surprised to find out about it.
McDonough revealed about it in an interview recently. He said,
I was [surprised], and it was a horrible situation for me. After that, I couldn’t get a job because everybody thought I was this religious zealot. I am very religious. I put God and family first, and me second.
McDonough chose this as his life’s rule and that’s what he lives by. It wasn’t easy for him initially. It was previously reported by the sources that David James Elliott replaced McDonough suddenly after the filming of the series began and was poised to lose almost $1 million in paydays.
McDonough often refuses for sex scenes and his religious beliefs are the main reason behind it. It was shocking that the network chose this as a reason to replace him.
McDonough was married to Ruve Robertson back in 2003 and the couple have five children. His devotion to his wife is evident from his refusal to do sex scenes.
McDonough even declared that he wouldn’t even kiss another woman. Further, he even said that he didn’t regret ditching love scenes with Nicollette Sheridan, his on-screen wife in “Desperate Housewives”. McDonough appeared in the show for a year back in 2008.
When he was signed by Marc Cherry, the show’s creator, he made it very clear that he wouldn’t even kiss anybody and Cheery agreed and said that he will just have to write better then. Family and faith has always been McDonough’s top priorities and it will not change for the rest of his life.
It was love at first sight for McDonough and his wife and they have been together ever since.
