Neil Diamond is one of the most famous musicians ever. He played in concert halls all the time for almost 50 years until complications from Parkinson’s disease forced him to stop in 2018.
It is with great reluctance and disappointment that I announce my retirement from concert touring. I have been so honored to bring my shows to the public for the past 50 years,
Neil Diamond announced at the time in a statement.
This ride has been ‘so good, so good, so good’ thanks to you.
Diamond hasn’t sung in public since then, except for a few surprise shows that no one saw coming.
The most recent was just before his 82nd birthday, when “A Beautiful Noise,” a musical based on his life, opened on Broadway.
When Diamond walked into the theater with his family after walking the red carpet, the audience stood up and cheered. After he took his seat, a microphone was given to him.
The crowd thought he would say a few words, but no one saw what came next.
Watch Neil Diamond lead the theater in what may be one of the best crowd-pleasers of all time.
