Jim Henson Company and Netflix is bringing an amazing project next year and it’s called “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”.
This television series is going to be the prequel of 1982’s “The Dark Crystal”. The fantasy adventure series will consist of ten episodes and is placed many years before the film’s events. Fantastical, state-of-the-art creatures which will star in the series and they are designed by the original feature’s conceptual designer Brian Froud.
The TV series will have classic and old school puppets and there will be no CGI involved. Announcement has been made regarding the stellar voice cast for the show’s characters. The voice cast will include Anya Taylor Joy from ‘The Witch’, Taron Egerton from ‘Kingsman’, Nathalie Emmanuel from ‘Game of Thrones’ as Brea, Rian and Deet who will be the three Gelfling heroes.
The other characters will be voiced by Caitriona Balfe, Harris Dickinson, Eddie Izzard, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Mark Strong, Alicia Vikander, Natalie Dormer, Helena Bonham Carter, Theo James and Gugu Mbatha Raw.
Apart from them, the mystics and skeksis will be voiced by Mark Hamill, Harvey Fierstein, Jason Isaacs, Ralph Ineson, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg, Keegan Michael Key and Olafur Darri Olafsson.
Donna Kimball will voice Aughra. Additional characters will be voiced by the puppeteers from the production including Louise Gold, Alice Dinnean, Victor Yerrid and Neil Sterenberg. The rest of the casting will be announced in some time.
The TV series will use classic puppetry that has cutting edge visual effects to tell an epic story. The world of Thra is dying and The Crystal of Truth lies at the heart of Thra. However, it is corrupted and damaged by Skeksis which is causing the sickness to spread across the entire land. The three Gelfling will reveal the horrific truth that is behind the power of Skeksis.
