With the first season of Beef making waves on Netflix, fans are eager to know whether the popular dark comedy series will air a second season. The series follows two strangers who get into a road rage incident and set them on a path of mutual destruction which later connects them over existential dread. The show which first aired in April has quickly gained a loyal following. But can fans expect to see a second season? Let’s take a look.
Beef Season 1 ending
Season 1 of Beef was a wild one as we see Danny and Amy battered and bruised in the middle of nowhere in the final episode. The two squabble and form a truce when they land in trouble, only to end up fighting again. The pair ends up eating some berries which makes them hallucinate and fall into a trance. The pair think they’re dying and fall asleep.
After their ‘near-death experience’, Amy and Danny start being really nice to each other only for Amy’s husband to appear suddenly, get the wrong idea, and shoot Danny.
Beef is a limited series
The unfortunate scene of events coupled with comedic timing keeps the audience in the dark about what comes next. No doubt the show is popular with audiences with a rating of 8.2 out of 10 on IMDB. Meanwhile, the series has earned Rotten Tomatoes critics and audiences scores of 90% and 91%, respectively. Therefore, there’s a high chance that Netflix and the people behind the show might want a second season. That said, the series was initially billed as a “limited series”, which tends to mean that they are a ‘one-and-done’ sort of affair.
"My pursuit of acting began as play, and then it became a form of escape and I moved to New York to get away from everything because I was going through a very bad existential crisis-slash-depression in college…" #BEEFNetflix https://t.co/X0jOP0gEb0

However, in an interview with GQ, the show’s executive producer, Lee Sung Jin expressed a desire to produce a second season and further develop the characters and storyline. Lee revealed that he’s content with how the show ended and he and the team intended for the show to end the way it did. However, he also mentioned that he’s open to producing another season and continuing Amy and Danny’s story. He said,
“If things change and there’s some great groundswell from people demanding more Danny and Amy from Netflix, I’m open to that as well. I have lots of ideas, and I love these characters deeply. So yeah, I’m really kind of leaving it up to all the viewers.”
So, is Beef season 2 confirmed by Netflix?
Unfortunately, there’s been no word from Netflix about a second season of Beef, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. The first 10 episodes were only released on the 7th of April, 2023. The streaming platform will take some time to confirm a second season.
On the bright side, looking at the show’s popularity, the show’s production team might consider extending Amy and Danny’s storyline for a second season.
