After a week on that concluded the cancellation of Marvel’s Iron Fist, on the same day the third season of Daredevil came up for streaming for the Streaming Giant. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting smaller every passing week on Netflix.
Deadline has reported which indicates the fact that Marvel’s Luke Cage won’t also be renewed for season 3 and effectively canceled the series.
Netflix and Marvel issued a joint statement which said that “Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season.” Everyone associated with Netflix and Marvel Televisions is quite grateful to the showrunner of the hit series, cast, writers and crew who dedicated their brilliance to bring the Hero of Harlem to life on a live action TV Show for two seasons.
This is just the beginning of the end of deals between Marvel and Netflix, and this brings down to three series at the service of the streaming giant namely, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and The Punisher.
The parent company of Marvel, Disney is all set to launch its own streaming service in 2019. As of late, it has also been revealed that they are working on a new original series from the Marvel Studios itself. The original series will focus on Loki and Scarlet Witch.
On the other hand, there isn’t word yet if Netflix will bring a series based on Luke Cage and Iron Fist in ‘Heroes for Hire’ which was expected to fill the gap between the two characters.
Truthfully, the cancellation of series like Luke Cage is quite a surprise as Cheo Hodari Coker the showrunner of Luke Cage reportedly started putting the writers together to bring the third season of Luke Cage to Netflix. There have been speculations regarding the new episodes of Luke Cage but the deal didn’t last long, and Netflix had to conclude that it is not feasible.
