What do fans think of the One Piece live-action series?
Fans have mixed reactions about the casting and in general, the One Piece live-action adaptation. While some of them expect the series to be average and are going in with low expectations, others have high expectations. A Reddit thread asking for the honest opinions of fans was posted a few months ago on the r/OnePiece subreddit.
u/mantisman on Reddit stated, “I will never expect an anime live-action to be good, so I’m going in with low expectations. However, every piece of information released so far (casting, sets, budget, staff) looks extremely promising, so my low expectations aren’t the fault of the show, just past disappointments.”
Is live action one piece good? Is it bad? You're asking the wrong questions- live action one piece is going to have me and two friends screaming and laughing our asses off one way or the other and that's all i care about

On the anime forum called Fandom, fans discussed that the involvement of the One Piece mangaka, Oda in the making of the series means it might not be as bad. A user stated “Personally, I’m not excited but I’m interested in how it will go down. And hearing that Oda will be one of the top supervisors of the live-action and the director is a big fanboy of One Piece is a bit reassuring. But knowing that it’s made from Netflix is not reassuring.”
Some fans said they are dreading the series in fear that the One Piece live-action series might ruin the anime once in for all.
