Eddie Murphy and Nia Long are very worried about what Jonah Hill is up to.
In the trailer for Netflix’s new movie “You People,” the two ask Hill a lot of funny questions about why he is dating their on-screen daughter Lauren London.
The “Superbad” star tries to convince Murphy and Long that he would be a good husband for their child. Hill and Kenya Barris, who also directs the movie, wrote it together. Hill’s mom and dad are played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny.
Their families find themselves examining modern love and family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences,
the synopsis reads.
Long told a source that the project gave her a chance to finally work with Murphy and also gave her a chance to talk about the current situation.
Right now, there’s a lot of talk about antisemitism and the Jewish religion experience, and this film explores the difference between Blacks and Jews in a very funny freaking way,
she said.
Hopefully we can find the funny in our differences, and appreciation and respect for our differences, for a better understanding.
On January 27, 2023, “You People” will be on Netflix.
