Netflix update is finally here with the Smart Downloads feature for iOS users which was long overdue. Users can easily save and watch videos offline. This feature was earlier made available to the Android users in June 2018.
Smart Downloads on Netflix: How to Activate?
Users can download the latest version of the Netflix app available for iOS for activating Smart Downloads feature. After updating the app, go to My Downloads section. You will find the Smart Downloads option at the top of the page. From there, toggling it on and off will activate the feature.
Just like its Android version, the latest Netflix update allows iOS users to save videos for viewing them offline later. Once the user has watched the video, it will be automatically deleted. The update also has an option which allows automatic download of next episode when the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Netflix offline viewing consumes a huge part of the device’s storage. Using the Smart Downloads feature helps the user to manage what requires to be deleted. This will save both time of the user and the device’s storage.
Offline Playback
The option of offline viewing was first made available in 2016 on Netflix. It showed some reluctance initially even after insistence from several users.
However, considering the situation of those users who have slower internet connection and competition from rivals like Amazon Video, Netflix gave in to user demands. Also, most of its users stream videos at home, so mobile users were given easy access to the videos.
